Things To Do Around Dayton

If nightclubs are your favorite form of recreation, Dayton is probably not the best destination for you. But if you want a gentler, restful, luxurious place to let the cares of the frantic modern world melt away, or outdoor recreation to refresh both mind and body, we can fill the bill - in spades.

Within a few miles of Dayton you will find some of the finest fishing, hunting and skiing in the Pacific Northwest. The Bluewood Resort offers ski slopes to coddle beginners or challenge experts. The Snake River recreation areas are just a short drive way. For the less ambitious, the Blue Mountains offer choice summer picnicking areas, complete with huckleberries for the picking. (Be prepared to share with bears.)

In Dayton, you can enjoy walking tours of two historic districts, visit the historic Dayton Depot Museum, have an old-fashioned soda at the Elk Drug, explore an assortment of galleries and antique shops, or golf at the Touchet Valley Golf Course. Bring your bike or jogging shoes; our quiet streets are ideal for non-automotive traffic. We are just a half-hour drive from Walla Walla, with its varied offerings of music, fine dining, repertory theater, summer outdoor drama, springtime ballon festival, and historic sites. Many opportunities abound to relax and sample a variety of wines in the Walla Walla Valley. Many established world award winning wineries are located within a short drive of each other.
